A stylish Elopement at Hide, London

REAL WEDDING: James & Fiona

FULL PLAN, DESIGN & STYLING: Studio Porter

James and Fiona’s civil wedding in Central London was a day in Summer that the Studio will always cherish; A day filled with love, good wine and intimate fine dining. Having changed their minds for a large wedding abroad, the couple opted for an intimate day in their home town, surrounded by their closest loved ones.

The couple started their day by getting ready in their private suite at London’s Kimpton Fitzroy Hotel, surrounded by close family members and friends, who had traveled from afar to be there with them. The bride wore an elegant Newhite wedding dress, purchased from Staffordshire based bridal boutique, Amare, accompanied with stylish accessories and shoes from Loeffler Randall and Cult Gaia.

The couple, who are originally from New Zealand, but have called London their home for the past few years, adore this city and wanted to celebrate a day that was based around all of their loves. Having booked a late afternoon slot at Marylebone Town Hall, we decided to spend the early afternoon taking couple portraits ahead of the ceremony. A way for James and Fiona to relax into the day and an opportunity for them to spend some quality time together before meeting with friends and family.

Portrait locations included St Pauls Cathedral, which holds a dear place in the couple’s hearts, as well as Belgravia’s stylish cobbled streets and boutique shops.

For their ceremony, James and Fiona were joined by a small handful of close friends and family members. The Westminster Room provided the perfect backdrop to their legal vows, with the smell of a floral Jo Malone room scent surrounding guests, which was also carefully chosen by the couple ahead of the wedding day and sprayed around the room before guests arrived.

After the ceremony, guests made their way to The White Horse in Mayfair. Tucked away on White Horse Lane, this cosy London pub owned by Hedonism Wines and Hide, provided the perfect secluded hideaway for James and Fiona to celebrate with charcuterie, champagne and wedding cake.

As well as being with friends and family, it was also important to James and Fiona to spend as much time together as possible, throughout the day. Their mutual love for fine dining brought us to Hide; A three-floor space overlooking Green Park, in a contemporary setting with elevated late-night dining options, created by Hedonism Wines and One Michelin Star chef, Ollie Dabbous.

Hidden away in their basement floor, The Shadow Room automatically offered a private sanctuary for the couple’s wedding meal. Playful lighting, shadows and neutral decor created a romantic and unique atmosphere for James and Fiona to dine in. Having said their goodbyes to loved ones, the couple made the short walk over and enjoyed the last couple of hours together where they enjoyed a 7-course tasting menu, specially created for The Shadow Room.
