A Stylish City Elopement at The Hoxton, Southwark
A wedding editorial In collaboration with Nina Wernicke.
A 'Stylish City Elopement' follows the story of 'Sienna & Archie', a young couple deeply in love who, despite the many hurdles and obstacles the pandemic has thrown at them, are determined to create a day that is as memorable and true to them as possible. Based in a Central London location, the shoot captures an intimate post-lockdown celebration full of personal details and touches.
Over the past twelve months, the pandemic has certainly taken a toll on weddings, businesses and couples all over the world; An event that has impacted almost every aspect of our lives and one that will probably stay with us forever.
But ‘even in darkness, it is possible to create light’.
In the most difficult of times, there were still elements of joy, love and togetherness; Something which has proven to be way more powerful.
After an incredibly difficult year for so many, the idea of a wedding was stripped back, focusing more on life's simple pleasures and true meanings of being with friends and loved ones. Not only was it important to showcase just how beautiful a smaller wedding can be, we also wanted to support and show off some incredible local and independent talents that London and the rest of the UK has to offer.
Both Nina and I wanted there to be a strong narrative throughout the course of the day, and ensure that 'Sienna & Archie's' story was clear and translating in every aspect. Every detail and design decision was considered with their love story in mind, from the stationery and the vows, to the florals and tableware.
~ His hello was the end of her endings Her laugh was their first step down the aisle His hand would be hers to hold forever His forever was as simple as her smile He said she was what was missing She said instantly she knew She was a question to be answered And his answer was "I do"' ~
- Extract from ‘Sienna & Archie’s’ vows, Carrie’s Poem from Sex and the City
The shoot captures ‘Sienna & Archie’s’ deep love for one another by following their story and capturing a narrative that is full of personal touches and detail. It was important for us to ensure their story was used in all aspects of the day, from the stationery, to the florals and table setting.
Weddings have come a long way in terms of creativity and authenticity. The shoot was produced for these contemporary-thinking couples in mind, whereby we not only hope to encourage and inspire them to create artistic weddings, but to show that not every wedding tradition needs to be followed.
Huge thanks to the full editorial team ~
