A beautifully intimate city wedding in London, filled with romantic detailing and stylish touches.

Back in August on a cool late-Summer’s afternoon, H + Y tied the knot in front of their closest loved ones. The day started at the couple’s local Greek Orthodox Church in North London, a place which is incredibly meaningful to them and the Groom’s side of the family. The Bride wore a dress by Eva Lendel, accompanied by a cathedral-length ruffled veil by Australian designer, Harriette Gordon. The Groom then wore a navy blue suit from Reiss, complete with a double-breasted jacket and silk pocket square. They were blessed by the local priest where a traditional Greek marriage service took place; One that symbolises love, respect and family.

Afterwards, the couple hosted a low-key reception which took place in the private apartment at The Hoxton Hotel in Southwark. A space that offers privacy and cosy corners with a wrap-around balcony and floor to ceiling windows throughout. Guests were greeted with the couple’s favourite cocktails , Espresso Martini for him and Amaretto Sours for her.

For the couple’s portraits, H + Y chose a nearby location on the banks of the River Thames by London’s Southbank. A stones throw from The Hoxton, directly next to the National Theatre where the Bride use to visit and enjoy live performances and shows. An unconventional backdrop but one that provides modern architecture and fond memories of days out with her mother. For her evening look, the Bride changed into a lace midi-dress from Self Portrait, designed with puff sleeves, ruching through the skirt and featuring diamante buttons and trims. She completed the look with a Ghost Bridal blazer, delicate ear cuffs from Net-a-Porter and a statement clutch from Cult Gaia.

For their wedding cake, the couple chose to work with Surrey based cake designer, Little Mallow, and decided on a non-traditional flavour, being coffee. The cake was inspired by the Brides favourite colours and flowers, which were also referenced throughout the day through the bouquet and tablescape.

The long dining table was adorned and dressed with soft and textural details. Bunches of flowers, inspired by wild meadows, were placed in beautiful hand-made gingham ceramic vases by Sussex based ceramist, Alice Passingham, along with stems of naturally placed smaller flowers in miniature bud vases. As the florals played such a big part of the couple’s day, we worked closely with South-London based florist, Tube Rose London, to create a look and feel that was entirely unique in shape, colour and tone. Alongside each place setting sat individual traditional Greek wedding biscuits as wedding favours, which were carefully wrapped and presented in pieces of muslin and tied together with a loose piece of silk ribbon.

After the meal, guests retired back to the open-plan pantry for more cocktails and dancing.
